The Beginning
One yellow lab changed the way I saw dogs.
I was 10 years old when Amber came home, and I was instantly obsessed. I checked out Dog Training for Dummies from the library and taught her to sit, stay, and give paw. She was grateful for the treats. I was grateful for the kind of companionship only a dog can give.
As I got older, I became a dog walker and saw the same thing everywhere. People lit up when they talked about their dogs. The love I had for Amber was not unusual. It was everywhere. We were all on the same team.
A Note From Our Founder
Amber was not a brand idea. She was my dog.
I was 10 when Amber came home, and she taught me what every dog person eventually learns: the gear matters because the routine matters. Team K9 was built from that feeling, then sharpened by owners who tell us what works, what rubs, what pulls, and what survives the ride home.
The first ideas came from dogs I knew.
One friend's dog pulled so hard on walks that every outing started with choking and frustration. I kept thinking there had to be a better way to give owners control without putting all that pressure on the dog.
Another friend's car was a disaster in the way only dog people understand: hair in the seats, muddy paws, scratches, and a dog sliding around in the back. That mess stayed with me too.
The business grew around the questions.
Which size fits a barrel-chested dog? Will the seat cover handle claws and wet paws? What helps a strong dog without choking them? Those questions became product notes, support habits, and the standard we still use before anything ships.
That is why our story is not just about a founder or a product. It is about the owners who ask before they guess and the dogs who prove what actually works.
